Clubs? Where did I put my clubs?

Aha!
There they are!
We have two new, super awesome clubs that have been in the planning stages for, like, ever.
Stash Menagerie

Some of you know that I collaborated with some other talented dyers for our Yarn of the Month club for more than two years. After so many years together (sniffle), we were both ready to try new things. Stash Menagerie was born as a way to enhance your stash and get yarny goodness in the mail every month. (You can see more about it here, if you're interested.)
Sock Yarnista

This is really the be all and end all of sock yarn clubs. Exclusively designed patterns. Goodies. Seriously, the BEST yarns, anywhere, ever. Ever. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm biased.
But I don't think so.
(More info on this club here.)
These clubs are keeping me awake at night with excitement. My friends and family are like, "All right. We get it. Yarn club. Woo." So we're going to spread a little excitement around to people who actually care (apparently NOT my friends and family ;).
Ready? We are giving away three single month memberships to either of our clubs! (Your choice.) If you are already a subscriber, you can enter too -- you'll either get a free month of membership, or an extra skein in your shipment, whichever you prefer.
TIME'S UP! Enter your first name and real email address below (sorry, gotta keep the spam away), and leave a comment telling us why you like to knit or crochet. That's all! A winner will be chosen using a random number selector. You have until 7:00 pm Eastern on Tuesday, June 3rd to enter. Good luck to you! :D Please note that we'll use the email you leave as a means to contact you, so please be sure it's correct!

I like to knit, because it's better than the heavy drinking I'd be doing without it most days!
Knitting is my therapy. It keeps me sane and some days, I'm sure it keeps me out of jail.lol
I like to knit (and quilt) because my job is in a service industry - I don't actually produce anything tangible. Crafting fills my need to actually create something of value that I can put my hands on.
i love to knit, because the process of creating something useful and beautiful is very fulfilling and rewarding to me
I love to knit cause it is totally my Yoga, no knitting equals high stress.
i knit because i enjoy the creative process - i love the feel of the fiber between my fingers - and my mind can roam all over creation even as i focus on the knits and purls of my pattern. i dig the new blog, sharon. can't wait to see pics of the studio.
Knitting is my therapy! I have been knitting for 51 years! I knit everyday until my shoulder hurts. I knit for my grandkids and my business. I love to design and come up with new ideas and patterns, all on little notes of paper!
I love all the yummy yarn at 3IG!

I love to knit because it is so versatile: when I want to be calmed down, relax, and de-stress I can knit something simple. when I want to use my brain a little more I can knit something more complicated. Plus, pretty yarn colors! Who can resist?
I knit for the pure joy of it. I love that I can create something out of such simple materials. I also enjoy the fact that I am showing my children how to create.
Having denied my creative side for so long, what a relief to discover that it's still there. Knitting is a perfect outlet for my busy mind (and busy fingers). Yes, it's calming and meditative (except when it's not - damn you, Debbie Bliss!) but it's also exciting and awe-inspiring. After many hours of one stitch at a time, I love the moment when I can sit back and say to myself, "I did this!" Knitting is a triumph. What's not to love!
Knitting keeps me calm (most of the time!), gives me something to keep my hands busy so I don't feel like a total bum during TV/downtime, and lets me explore my creativity. Add in getting to play with gorgeous yarn and having a useful finished object at the end that will last for years... what's not to love?
Knitting is very relaxing for me and I love that it is so portable.
I knit because the act of sitting and being able to create something lets me bring some semblence of order and control into my life. Also, I am flat-out addicted to yarn.
I knit because I NEED to create! I was born to create...children, meals, sweaters, etc. Knitting is something I do just for me. I make garments and toys for other people but the knitting act itself is all mine. I do it MY way. Everyone needs a way to express themselves and knitting does it for me and has for the last 40 years. Hope I can knit 40 more!
I knit because I love to create beautiful things and I can't draw or paint. :-) On a more serious note, there is a tradition of handwork in my family--my grandmother did a lot of crafts and decorated beautiful cakes; my mother quilts and crochets. I've been quilting for years, but for some reason the impending birth of my daughter last year spurred me to pick up that knitting I wanted to learn when I was pregnant with her older brother. Since a lot of knitting = warm items, and we live in south Texas, I've even started developing some of my own designs so my children and I can wear knitted items fore more than one month a year without melting. And I love that I can create those one of a kind items.
I love to create for my family. My kids fight over what I'm making next and who it's for. knitting is so relaxing and I can take it with me.
I knit because I have to do so. (I'm suffering a bit of withdrawal here as I try to finish up my dissertation). It is an amazing way to unwind at the end of the day or to start the day (or to consume the day). It is truly the most satisfying creative outlet I've ever found! The real question is this: Why are there some people who don't knit?
Knitting is extremely therapeutic for me. I learned when my son was born and shortly after was hospitalized for lyme's meningitis. i was unable to hold him for many months, had to give up breastfeeding, and it broke my heart to not have that physical bond with him. knitting for him was a way for me to wrap him up in my love. it made me feel like a good "normal" mother who was taking care of her baby the way he needed to be taken care of. now i am better, ad knit for many more people than just my own children, however that maternal sense of healing and comfort still stays with me.
I knit to stay warm :)
I love to knit because I get to make beautiful things, and I like having them once I've made them, and I like giving them to the people that I care about. I also like that I'm good at it. I started seven years ago, when I was thirteen, and I used to just knit easy things, until I decided to start figuring out how to do the things I didn't know how to do, and it's a phenomenal feeling to know that I'm at the point now where I could knit any pattern I decided too, and that I taught myself all the skills I need to do it.
Great new blog! And thanks for doing a drawing for some fantastic club yarn. :)
I knit because it can both challenge or relax me, depending on the project. I love knitting because it lets you spend time to make something beautiful and meaningful for a loved one or for yourself. I also love that it allows me to use my skills learned from a fine arts background in combining colors and designing. Spinning and dyeing (my other two addictions) also provide endless amounts of fun for me, with all of the same reasons.
Oh, I'm in!
I found that knitting is like meditation/therapy, except I get a hat(socks, whatever) at the end. Following a pattern takes my mind off my problems and just knitting keeps my hands busy while watching TV or something. I just really enjoy it!
I love to knit because I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment when finishing a project. Although I also enjoy the anticipation of beginning a new one! That and the meditative process of the actual knitting...
Stress relief. I keep my hands busy while my mind can wander off into the ether. I like to work at it during incubation periods during lab experiments - my hands remain active and my brain can plan out the next steps and ponder the big questions.
I love to knit because i can share what I've made with others and get my friends interested in the craft.
