Here we are up to colors 30 and 31. Custom mixed. In fact, 17 is custom mixed, 21 is not. Everything above 21 I made myself.

I can see now just how dim my dining room is during the day.
And let me tell you, my husband was just tickled beyond belief that this is now his dining room and living room. I mean, who wouldn't want to come home from a business trip to find this?

Okay, not that my opinion matters at all, but I hate #11 and #22. I'm a big fan of #14 and #16, although 16 may be too dark for an interior room. As for the rest, I look forward to seeing what amazing combinations you come up with!

Are you planning on one color for the top & another for the bottom or one color for both? Since it is an interior room with no natural light of it's own, do you want it to be light? I like #9 and #17 for light colors - I like all the blues too, but my whole first floor is blue right now & I am loving the cottagey feel of blue & white with light bamboo floors. I am sure whatever you chose it will be amazing - what fun!
I like 15 and 16, but 16 might be too dark...
I think 31 looks really nice, and I love that kitchen sneak peek! It looks so cheerful with the white cabinets :)

I am thinking about doing one color above the plate rail and a different one below it, but I'm not wedded to that idea yet...

Colors 27 and 29 are really lovely. In fact 27 is very close to the color I want to paint my bedroom when I buy a house. Paint something with 27! Anything, lol! I think either would be a gorgeous color in that living room.
Your dining room is so dark, I'd put a light color above the plate rail, like 14 or 21.
I like it the way it is. Perhaps you should just add more all over and leave it like that :P Sort of kitschy/crazy yarnista, don't you think?
Ooh, I think I like 23 in the dining room (difficult to tell with it in shade), but then I have a soft spot for soft dusty blue greys. And I like 29 in the living room, like 15 but lighter. I think the dining room definitely looks dark, and putting a dark colour in there could kill it during the day (at night with loads of candles it could look amazing - the walls would just disappear back into the shadows) depends how gothic you want to go. I think I would put a darker relative of colours in the rooms around it, like 23, darker but not dark.
With so many colours and so many opinions on so many colours, how on earth are you going to choose?!
Gah! It makes me all twitchy to just look at all of this.... Just like going to a restaurant with too many choices on the menu.
I can't stop thinking about your husband finding that on his return.. However, he's been married to you for a while, so I'll bet he wasn't that floored.. Tee hee.. I can't stop gigling.. I know you'll pick beautiful colors. Its your gift.
If you're doing the two color option I like the combination of #9 & #11 or #9 & #20. I also like #27. Are you going for solid color walls only? If not, I think painting it solid in #9 and doing a glaze with something like #10 or #17 might look very interesting. I will admit I have very colorful walls in my house.
My heart flutters at #10. Dining room? Powerful. If it were my house, I'd have a dining room in #10. It would be a kind of neat contrast to the view through to the white and green of the kitchen.
If not, then #22. You need something warm in a dining room.
Or #31. That's okay for a neutrally brown. I still like #10 better, though.
What's that tealy colour just below #16 with no number under it in the corner living room shot? That's a good living room colour.

#9 is a possibility, but more for a kitchen.
I really like the pinks for the dining room (#21 and the other similar colors). They lighten the space up and I love the color contrast between pink and green (your library). In your living room I love #9 with #20 coming in a close second (a lighter shade of #16 would be pretty too I think). Anyway, it is very nice of you to garner opinions from us. When I did our house the only opinion I listened to was my own! (Except for the no red paint rule, Hubby put his foot down there.) Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Okay, when I first looked at the pics my brain went into lockdown from "too many choices" syndrome (anything over 3 to choose from tends to do that to me). This is what I finally came up with, for whatever it's worth.
If you are determined to go with brown for the dining room, 8 or 31 look good to me for below the plate rail with 9 above it. For the trimwork I would use 18. I would use the lightest shade of 9 or even a creamy white for the ceiling to help reflect the light better and direct it downward - dark colors will tend to swallow the light. You will also want to keep the darker colors lower in the room with the lighter colors above, that should help to draw the light downward into the area where it is needed. Choice of furnishings and decorative elements can also be used to collect and direct the light in the room. I would tend to be less focused on handling the daylight (beyond inviting it into the room) since this will be a room that will always require provided light during use, so that should be one of the major deciding factors when making your color selections. Did I say that clearly enough? Let me know if not, and I can throw some more words at it!
I wonder - is it possible to mix something similar to, say, glitter into the paint? I'm thinking of something along the lines of gold reflective particles mixed into the paint (the darker color) that when applied to the walls could capture and reflect light in a subtle way. Or maybe not mixed into the paint but more as a light wash over the paint. Is it even possible? Would it work without ending up looking tacky?
If you are not wedded to the "brown" for the dining room, I would TOTALLY go with #10 and 17 - at least on my monitor they look like they would be fabulous together! You could still use #18 with this combo. If not in the dining room, they could really rock that living room, and would help to balance all those (lovely) greens and blues you've got going in the other rooms. These would also be nice "warm" colors, very cheery in the dead of winter, and I do believe they would frame your lovely chair. #29 is a nice color but it could make the room feel "chilly" in the winter and would tend to swallow up your chair.
Well, these are my thoughts on the matter, for what they're worth. Since I'm not good at conserving words, I'd better end this now before it gets any longer!
