I don't know why, part 2
Remember this?
I created the Glimpse colorway in February, in honor of one of our customers who tragically lost her baby, Charlie. I wanted to give her -- and all of you, too -- a little piece of something to hold on to. A Glimpse of something better ahead, no matter how dark your current days are.
We decided to donate 20% of the purchase price of these skeins to Share, a non-profit organization that provides support for families who have lost an infant.
You can read more about it here, if you're so inclined.
We were overwhelmed by the response. In two weeks, 572 skeins of Glimpse were ordered.
Today, we sent in a check to Share, on behalf of all of you.
I added some of my own money to round up the final donation amount to $2,500.
The message reads: From members of the knitting community to families who have lost little ones too soon.
Charlie is loved and not forgotten, Shelley. Not by you, and not by any of us.
I hope seeing this colorway will help you remember that.
Knitters are some of the kindest, most generous people I know. Today, I am proud to be one of you.

Wow. I mean...just, wow. Sharon, this was such a generous gesture on your part. I'm so glad I had the chance to be a part of it.
What a beautiful thing to do. I know that a loved your yarn, but today I love you as a person from this knitting family that I'm a little part of. We lost a grand-son at birth. Thank you for your kind heart.
I am proud and humbled to be a member of this community. Thank you, Sharon! This was so generous of you and I was happy to participate.
Bless you, Sharon. This is so beautiful and I'm thrilled Charlie will be remembered and that we've been able to help others. I have my sweater in Glimpse, and when I wear it, I feel his arms and heart around me. You did that. You made it possible for me to hold him and be held by him. And being able to be a part of something larger than my own grief has helped me bear it. Thank you.
This was such a wonderful project to be a part of. I am proud to be a part of this knitting community.
I am so grateful for you, your gifts, your kind heart and the chance to be part of this.
Wow! Just WOW!!! I am so proud to be a part of something that will help a lot of families who have lost their little angels. Thank you Sharon for your kind heart and your generous spirit. :) {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}
Simply extraordinary. As a self-employed (single) parent, I know personally how difficult it is each day to carve out time for ourselves, much less for others. Thank you, Sharon, for a little reminder that we can all incorporate kindness into our days ... even through work!
Such a wonderful thing to do...I am currently knittibg a sweater with this yarn for my soon to be new grandson, Josiah, in honor of Charlie...thanks Sharon for all you do.
Charlie's spirit will be going with us later this summer when my husband and I camp in the high mountain forest, wearing our chullo hats made from Glimpse when it cools off in the evening. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of it!
This post made me weepy and proud. And then I read Shelley's comment and came completely undone.
My best friend had several miscarriages before delivering a healthy, happy, adorable baby Charlie last July--I bought Glimpse to honor him, and finished knitting into a pair of mittens for his mom over the weekend. Congratulations on the generous contribution!
This is amazing.
I am glad to have been a small part of this. Thank you, Sharon, for bringing this to our attention!
Like Jen said, just Wow. Thank you for doing this; your amazing talent and generosity and compassion brought all of us into this, and like the rest I'm honored to be able to support Shelley, and all those touched by infant loss. I love having a colorway which captures grief so clearly.
It was an honour to be part of this with the rest of the Knitting Community. My sweater gives me so much comfort.
