Sneaky sneaky!
My peeps snuck into the studio over the weekend.
I guess it probably wasn't very hard for them -- I wasn't there, and they have keys. So in reality, they probably barged in, turned on all the lights, cranked the music up, drank some coffee, and yelled at each other. I was none the wiser.
Until I arrived in the stillness of an early Monday morning and saw this:
The studio was decorated for my birthday, complete with banners and balloons and confetti:
And before you get too Judgy McJudgerson about by floors, let me remind you that they are almost 110 years old, and that I happen to like them.
My desk and computer were completely covered in banners and candy and notes:
When everyone arrived, I found that they had made one of my favorite desserts (tiramisu), bought gifts, and planned to have my husband arrive at the appointed time so we could all go out to lunch at my favorite Japanese restaurant.
The mail also brought gifts: a book from a friend in Norway (how did you know I love art books?), hand knit socks, cards, and my gift to myself: a pair of Signature Needle Arts circulars. I am itching to try them.
I think 59 will agree with me just fine.

Really??? I was all set to comment on how much I loved them and that what appear to be little dye smears have made them totally yours....
And you must decide how old you are for certain...here you say you are 59 and on Rav you say you are 58. If you can't keep it straight how are we ever to believe in your fantasy????
Dear Three Irish Girls fans,
I am 52 years old and actually did give birth to Sharon - in the late 70s. Don't let her pull the Merino wool over your eyes about this 59th birthday stuff. :)

I love the floors!! :)
And hope you have a wonderful day!! :)
What a great surprise! I bet your family LOVES having you live close by now, so they can create these wonderful surprises for you!! There's nothing like living near family -- that said, I don't....but our daughter lives only an hour away now in Milwaukee (she used to be in CO), so that's as good as next door really! Happy birthday!!
My mother could be lying about her own age so as to appear younger. You never know.
This confetti celebration at the studio was done by my employees -- my family held a separate party for me in which my mother cooked a delicious meal and a pan of brownies, which I inhaled.
I must say, I was getting impressed that our dear Yarnista popped out not one, but three, babies in her 50s.
Looks like you had a wonderful day!
Your Mom is too cute! Do tell us what you think of those new needles. They look great,I may want some too! Have a wonderful confetti throwing, yummy lunch day!
Happy Birthday Sharon! You and your Mom are always makin' me laugh. 59 my tush! You don't look a day over perfection.
If you're 59 --- I am 70. ;P
Happy Birthday Darling!
May all your happiest wishes come true.
That is awesome! Happy birthday!!!!
Happy! Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Sharon. Here's to 59 more years of yarn, photos and blogging about it all. Congrats!
Happy Birthday!! Sounds like you had a wonderful day! And the floors are great (considering they're over 100yrs) I like wood floors.
Love the floors... and the 59. Heh... if you're 59, I hope that I look as fabulous as you at 59! ;)
Sorry I missed the party, but here's a belated HB - better late than never! I have a huge soft spot for vintage wood floors, yours are wonderful. When I first looked at the confetti picture, I thought they were little dye splatters, lol!
I also love the laughs you and your mom provide, your relationship reminds me much of mine with my daughter, though she usually prefers to remind me (with an evil little laugh) how OLD I'm getting. To which I remind her that she's only twenty years behind me. Ha!
Hoping your day was as wonderful as could be!
