What today looked like...
It started with me wearing my glasses, which I hate doing.
I hate how they slide down my nose
I hate how they make my face feel hot.
I hate how they smudge my makeup.
I hate that I can't wear sunglasses because I don't have any prescription lenses.
Glasses = nemesis.
But the glasses were necessary today because my contacts are driving me crazy and I need some new ones.
And besides, today I laid out my 33 (34?) new fall colorways and named them all.
All of them. This is a huge step. It usually takes me 91 hours to name some colorways. But I did it.
That means we're one step close to putting together the fall lookbook, which will have patterns and yarn -- lots of yarn -- in it.
So, now I'm asking for some feedback.
Having seen our Spring Lookbook, can you make any suggestions that might improve our fall version?
Photos of models wearing clothes knit in our colorways = check.
Better pictures = check.
Was there anything you particularly liked, so I can know to include that in the new version?
Fall Lookbook launch countdown is on!

Ohhhh how exciting!!!! And how fun!!!
I LOVE the look book!! So pretty to look at :) However I do have one question/suggestion...
Due to the fact that the yarn base makes such a difference on the way the colors look in a colorway would it be possible to tell what the base is that colorways are featured on? When I look at the spring look book sometimes I can guess...but not always.
Thanks :)
And I like your glasses!! Pretty :)
i thought the last set of photos were awesome and didnt need any improvement. but i agree that knowing what base the yarn in the photo is would be helpful.
I miss you!
I loved the last lookbook, and I am really excited to see the new one.
I love the pics of the yarns posing with accessories like a whole bunch of yarny still life paintings. Models and garments would be nice too - but I hope you have SOME arty pictures. 8-)
Keep doing what you're doing! I can't wait to feast my eyes on those new colorways!!
It's what we like to call "yarn porn." :)
Yarn identification in each picture -- excellent idea, thank you!
I thought the Spring Lookbook was gorgeous.
One thought, would it be possible to show some semi-solids together that contrast each other? Like the page with Maguire, Fionn and Cara but say with Devin and Cian or Clara and Brady. I am thinking of things that might work well together for colorwork.
I can't wait to see all your lovely new creations!!
I agree with the last suggestion- I really loved seeing some yarns in combination- I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Color combos! I'm on it! :D
I loved the vignettes! They show-cased the yarn so well! Maybe you could add a page letting us know what weights the yarns are available in? Or if they're available in all the weights offered, maybe a cheat sheet in the look book so we don't have to jump back on the website?
Having not knit up much varigated yarn (I'm wokring on it, my Georgia Peach scarf is getting a little longer by the day) it would be useful for me to see how some of them knit up...
I would like to see a paper version that we could purchase. I much prefer browsing through a catalog that peering at my computer screen.
How exciting! A new lookbook!
You're going to hate me, but, for me at least, I think a little knitted-up swatch would be useful. It's hard for me to imagine what some of the "wilder" yarns would look like knitted up. You know, the ones with a lot of color changes.
Thanks!
I am so excited to see all the new colorways! My one question, will any of the older colorways be discontinued? I would want to buy some before they went away........
Hi - personally I like the lookbook as it is.... I like seeing just the yarn and styling it with things other than people wearing items made from it. This take on styling allows me to let my minds eye picture how this yarn will look in the item that I want to knit. Your pictures have a light in them and that makes them appealing and airy. I do understand that for people that don't use a variegated yarn very often that a swatch made up in stockinette might be helpful. Always willing to volunteer to knit those. I did that for local yarn stores in Seattle for over a dozen years.
One thing you might consider - If a customer wants more specific information on a yarn, let's say "Kate" - perhaps you could print on demand or have a small supply of leaflets - 5x7 in approx size - a picture of the yarn as it is in the lookbook/picture of it made up/all the details/small sample of the yarn (some people have to feel a yarn first), etc.... you could charge a small fee for this service.
Wishing you all the best with the new collection. Looking forward to seeing it.

i agree with gwen, ilove the colorways but let me see something knitted with the yarn. i would love to just keep looking at the yarn but i'd much prefer to wear it ! a swatch or two of some of the colorways would be really helpful :) joann
Very good suggestions, your feedback is most helpful!
I can't believe I'm saying this, because I LOVE pictures of swatches or garments being modeled on real people to help me make my yarny and pattern decisions. However, I loved your spring lookbook as it is because the photos are so beautiful I could see myself printing them out, framing them, and hanging them on my walls. I haven't done this, but I've thought about it. And I'd feel slightly less strange in the eyes of non-knitters for hanging still life photos of yarn than hanging photos of people I do not know.
I like all the above suggestions, especially about placing a combination of colorways together.
How about putting information about the length of the color repeats so people can plan around it? And if it's not too much work, put pictures of re-skeined and non-re-skeined together so we know what they look like both ways.
Can't wait for the Fall Lookbook! Woootttt!!!
