Monday inspiration
I love monograms. I don't know why, exactly, but there's something lovely about their timeless, vintage appeal.
These are charming handpainted designs from Rifle Paper Company
I bought one of these for my husband for Christmas. Love.
Wouldn't these be adorable in a child's room?
I have this necklace with my children's initials on each disc. I love that I can wear it every day without fear of breaking it.
Except my children are not named Abella, Blanca, and Enrique. Not that those aren't lovely names. They just don't have the same Gaelic ring needed to fit with my last name, McMahon. (Said just like Ed McMahon. Or McMann, for those of you too young to remember Ed.)
And this? This makes me want to plan a giant event just so I can get my hands on these letterpress save the dates.
Honey, will you marry me, just so we can get some of these cards?
I understand that monogrammed linens are a Southern tradition. Is that true? I do not have any -- am I the only one? Am I missing out on something by not having monogrammed shams?
I have, however, been known to personalize other things.
What kind of stuff have you personalized? Written on your gloves recently, have you?

Yarnista! Are you on Pinterest? This is totally like a Pinteresty post!
The gloves crack me up... I had to do the same thing to mine when I worked at my husband's greenhouse business. If stuff was not labeled with threatening phrases, they would disappear forever.
No! What is Pinterest? I'm sure I will find it of interest.
I'm sure I'm a very original poet, but you wouldn't know it.
OMG! I should take a picture of my desk at work. I have personalized my stapler, my ruler, my scissors and many, many other things. The joke is if I like something of yours I print a label with my name and stick it on the item so it becomes "Amy's" I did that with a picture of a co-worker's (grown-up) son (very cute!) but he ended up with someone else. I think maybe he didn't see my label. I don't know...
Hey! That date on that beautiful envelope!! March 26th is my birthday!! I have these file folder rectangular sticky labels on just about everything I own at school.
Pinterest.com... pinboards for all the neat stuff you find on the interwebs, for sharing beautiful things. I sent an invite to your main mail address. :>
Thanks, Elle! I will check it out!
The gloves are so classy. Maybe next time you can get a different font just to change it up. ;)
I love monograms. So much so, that I monogram everything I sew. And I used to do it when I had a custom sewing business. What woman doesn't like to have her initials embroidered inside her tailored jacket? I also used to do something similar on wedding gowns - either the wedding date or the couple's initials embroidered somewhere on the lining. Customers loved it.
I've also got my name on all sorts of stuff floating around the house, mostly things that have had to go out in public with me. Just because.
I used to be a costume designer so I would work in studios with lots of other people. I would personalize my sewing tools to make sure I could tell them apart from other people's. I labeled everything "Mine". That way everyone else there would know it was mine. ;)
Jaia, that made me laugh out loud! Did you register for bedding that said, "Mine" when you got married? :)
I have put "mom" on my gardening gloves but I like the "other glove" the best LOL Snagging that idea! Thanks so much ;)
