Be vewy quiet.

You might hear the cracking of the ice on the Big Lake. It's 50 degrees warmer here than it was four days ago. Hello, February!

I think I've reached the pinnacle of curmudgeonliness.

Here's the kind of stuff that I do on Friday night:

1. Knit while watching the John Adams mini-series for the third time. I revel in watching it. Don't get me started talking about it, I will go on for hours. You should watch it too. Then we could talk about it.

2. Eat homemade salsa and guacamole. The chips are merely a vehicle for the salsa and guacamole

Last night I tried to make guacamole and realized I had no limes. My husband was not home and the kids were sleeping, so I had no hope of getting a lime. I tasted the guacamole, and it needed something acidic.

I made the mistake of using balsamic vinegar.

Peeps, do not try that at home. Avocados should not be treated that way.

3. Put up blog posts like this one. Ready? Are ya ready?

I Am……a friendly introvert.

I Want……an iPad, and a super amazing camera lens that I've rented twice but cannot bring myself to spend money on purchasing. If you're not a photographer, you would think, "Sheesh, take a vacation instead." If you're into photography, Nikkor 85mm 1.4 AF-S. You pickin' up what I'm puttin' down?

I Should……do yoga or something.

I Wish……that my dog was better behaved.

I Hate……meatloaf, meatballs, and all manner of meat mixed with other ingredients and then formed into some kind of shape.

I Fear…….endeavors that would result in my untimely demise. Such endeavors include rock climbing, sky diving, bungee jumping, flying in a small plane, and eating meatloaf.

I Hear……my huge, brown dog laying on the floor lapping water from her bowl. My children in bed. My husband starting the dishwasher.

I Search……for the keys I lost two weeks ago. I had to borrow keys from my employees to get a new set made. Generally speaking, it's best for the leader of an organization to have keys to said organization, no?

I Wonder……why there are not more hours in my day.

I Regret…….rubbing my eye after chopping jalapenos for the salsa I made.

I Love…….mi familia, mi gato y mi perra. Y yarno.

I Always……wake up thinking about coffee.

I Usually……eat chocolate 73 times per day.

I Am Not……interested in the Super Bowl.

I Dance……during Hip Hop O'Clock in the studio.

I Sing…….frequently and badly. Sometimes on purpose.

I Never…….like meatloaf.

I Rarely……think about meatloaf because I dislike it so much.

I Cry……in the bathroom when my host serves me meatloaf.

I Am Not Always……very good at keeping my opinions to myself.

I Lose……things that I put away to keep myself from losing them.

I’m Confused……about why people would want to make meatloaf.

I Need…….pretty colors, coffee, chocolate, and adequate sleep.

I Have……much to be thankful for.

Including you.

That's my Friday night. What are you up to?

Oh EW on the balsamic vinegar guacamole!

I bought a bottle of lime juice to keep in my fridge for just those sorts of emergencies. Lemon works in a pinch, but it's not the saaaaaaaaame.

This Friday night is peaceful, after a rather crazy day. My kids aren't destroying anything and are also being quiet. That's a sign of a good evening. :)

(Dahlia & August's Mama here)....hmmmm, Friday night & I'm knitting my husband's Christmas present (is it FEBRUARY you say? hmmmm) & watching some Netflix on demand. Your list made me laugh. I make a mean meatloaf. :)

Happy Weekend!

I loooove the John Adams miniseries!! One of our favorite parts is near the beginning when one of his sons is being annoying and he tells him "Remove yourself, sir!" My husband and I crack up everytime we think about saying that to our son.

Our dogs abusively drink water from their bowl too.

I am addicted to fruit snacks. Not the silly Disney brand ones, but the Welchs' ones that kinda taste like fruit.

Oh I must watch John Adams again! Perfect stockinette knitting time. Though I might have to remind myself to knit now and then LOL. Sounds like a fabulous Friday!!!
Oh and I add extra salt if I don't have a lime. I don't know why I just do.

You crack me up! So, were you abused by a wicked meatloaf as a child? All that talk of meatloaf makes me want to make some now - it's been years!

Tonight I am continuing with my recuperation from 2 days spent digging (2) vehicles out of 2 plus feet of snow after our blizzard. I am hurtin' all over from the unaccustomed exercise. I'm also trying to get a Christmas project done (gawd am I slow!) and listening to my (adult) DD and her BFF giggling in front of the TV in the other room - they are having a Girls Night In.

I just finished kitchnering and weaving all my ends in on a pair of Hedera's I made out of McClellan Fingering in the colorway Flynn. I badly want to wear them tomorrow but will photograph and document first. I will not have time to do this before I have to work tomorrow, so I will not be able to wear them tomorrow 8(

I also LOVE the John Adams series and watched it with my sister on the 4th of July weekend 2 years ago. I have it recorded somewhere.... must go dig it out again. It was outstanding!

I second Diana on the lemon... yes, not the same, but in a pinch you do what ya gotta do.

What am I doing on my Friday night?
Stalking other peoples Rav profiles for such amazing finds like Mountain Cathedrals or Sandcastles on McClellan Fingering... packing up my recent sales -- yarn that is-- to fund more yarn -- the TIG variety-- so that my husband doesn't realize I've actually purchased more yarn (yes, it is deceptive)... planning my grocery list for tomorrow's grocery shopping for Sunday's party-- PUPPY BOWL!!!... and hopefully, I will relax and knit. Hopefully.

By the way, AGREED meatloaf is nasty.

My Friday was dominated by correcting student papers. And it turned out there were no (edible) goodies in the house :-(
Tried test-knitting a brioche hat pattern in Springvale Bulky, but was totally frustrated as the pattern seems written for English-style knitting, not Continental.

This made me laugh. LY.

My Friday night is very similar and I have a STRONG dislike for meatloaf as well!

I think it's funny how I now can't wait for Friday night. I mean, I have so much knitting I could finally be doing or finishing the book I've been reading! I'd so much rather sit on my couch in my jammies (and guacamole would probably make it a lot better) all cozy and doing something that makes some people think that I've gone from 27 to 97 without the messy bit of having children, retiring, having grandchildren, and trying to age gracefully. I think the perfect Friday night is meant to be spent that way. And I have to agree with you on the hatred of shaped meats. Although my hatred stems more from the fact that I have to put my hands in the meat in order for it to be shaped. Ew.

Driving teenage children around to various birthday parties and other events. Dropping one off, picking the other up, dropping that one off somewhere, then picking them all up (with their friends) because I am The Mom Who Drives!

I went out to dinner with my husband then watched an hour of "Say Yes To The Dress". I don't understand why I like watching such a ridiculous show from time to time, but I do. I use the show as an excuse to knit on my FLS which is looking lovely in Georgia Peach! That's it, that's why I watch that show, really.

My Friday night was spent watching several episodes of Bones...I could watch that show for hours. I tried casting on (several times) for the Lepidoptera mitts while also drinking wine. I had enough sense to finally put it down and go to bed. And this morning I read your blog and laughed...even though I really like meatloaf :)

My Friday night made me very depressed! I am an HR person and our company is doing the first ever layoff that we have ever done. My job is safe, but I stayed at work until 9pm last night pulling together the paperwork of people we had to let go. I have been with the company almost 12 years and many of the "victims" are my friends! I was so tired and dragged out when I got home. I felt like I had just been to a week long funeral. The really bad thing is there are going to be more next week. I love HR but this is one aspect that I HATE!!!

I did not have meatloaf for dinner - but it is a good comfort food. I had miso soup instead. Also - oddly - a good comfort food.

I spent Friday knitting my Virginia Shawl on Canyon and watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on Netflix (with hubby). Perfect Friday evening until our 10 month old came down with the stomach bug that DS had the night before. She was up half the night yelling, but she seems better now. I may have to make some guacamole this weekend (but with real limes!)

Yarno??????????? I think we are very much alike. Except that I like MY meatloaf. Are you sue the balsamic vinegar was not good in the guac? It sounds tempting for some reason. I suppose I should just take your word for it. Especially since one of my workmates has a lime tree! Yarno???????????

February 5, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKathy Sue

oops, I mean are you sure?

February 5, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKathy Sue

What? Yarno isn't Spanish for yarn? ;P

I ditched med school for the night and watched 2 movies AND some anime with the boy. Should definitely do that more often. Now for some rice krispies treats... :)
