One year ago

My hair was still red.
My mother didn't like it.
She would never let me dye my hair as a teenager. "People pay big bucks to have blonde hair like yours!" she told me.
So I paid a lot of money to have the stylist put it back to blonde. It took 200 foils and almost four hours.
Indeed, people do pay big bucks to have blonde hair.
One year ago, I was working on my egg dyeing tutorial:
And then this happened. I got sidetracked.
It's almost done now, and I'll share some of my simple secrets for unique eggs.
Hint: you don't need to buy those egg dyeing kits they sell this time of year. Save your money. You can use it for yarn later.

I completely understand about change and loss. My world has just been utterly tossed into the air with the loss of my beloved Cardigan corgi, Ethan (CH C-Myste Mission Impossible). Not yet seven years old, he went down in the rear Saturday, had ruptured disc surgery Sunday, and passed Tuesday with a rare condition that kills the spinal cord after trauma. I'm crushed, because he was my heart dog. I know you must still hurt a year later and I send you my very best wishes!!!
I'm so sorry, Richelle! Sending hugs your way. (((((hugs)))))
I'm so sorry for your loss, but very grateful that you reminded us about Isabel. Your post last year about her was the first one that I read on your blog. I was touched by your post, but too shy to respond. I've been in the position that you described, but thankfully not often. As with Isabel, my little border collie mix Meghann moved cross country with me twice; she also sustained me through the breakup of my first marriage and my progress through law school in my early thirties. She was a lovely, lovely dog -- sweet, smart, and faithful for fifteen years. Sixteen years (a new husband, one now-14-year-old child, two dogs, and four cats) later, she still holds a very special place in my heart. Here's to Isabel, and to you.
If you haven't already, perhaps some day you can create a special skein of yarn in Isabel's colors. And one for the indomitable horsedog, too!
In the scheme of things, "red" is not such a drastic choice.
For example, some of my hair is now purple. Ish
I say "some" because I had them do an underdye and then some highlights into my darker brown hair. It was three foils and four hours, so you know how much I paid.
I say "Ish" because it's now faded from an awesome royal purple to a silver violet. Which, in actuality, doesn't look so good, even if it sounds pretty.
Silver violet would be really pretty yarn. The under swing of your shoulder length hair? Not so much.
Reading the post about Isable made me cry all over again. I recently read the earlier blog posts about your cross-country moves with her. She was with you through so many changes! I have sent you many healing thoughts and am hoping the grief is lessening.
Last September, I had to say goodbye to my Figaro, who was 16 and had been with me for most of that time. I still miss her.
Oh, hugs from me too....made me cry!
You just made me cry while standing at my point-of-sale computer. I'm sorry for your loss (even if it is a year later). I have a sick kitty right now, too, and anyone who has ever lost and loved an animal will understand this one. One hour is too quick to say goodbye!
I remember that post about Isabel (and Ginger-I think was her name). Always a heart breaker loosing a pet is! On a happier note, you're so pretty Sharon!(red or blond!) Beautiful picture of you! And that egg is pretty cool lookin' too.
Thank you, Jaime! That is so nice of you to say!
