I love being busy. Busy is fun, but tiring. I've got enough irons in the fire for three people.
Two weekends ago, I was at Yarnover, a Twin Cities-area event. This is Aimee, the owner of Darn Knit Anyway in Stillwater. Isn't her shawl awesome? It's stripes of Burke and Eilis.
Not sweet: my hands after I taught a dyeing class at the Shepherd's Harvest Festival last weekend. I had to peel plastic tape off of my jars of dye, and couldn't do it with gloves on. It's now Wednesday, and my hands still show signs of the battle.
If you happen to be heading to the Howard County, MD fairgrounds this weekend, you can expect to see:
A new set of spring rainbow colorways, dyed on Felicity Merino/Silk. These shades cannot be recreated, and there are only eight mini skein sets to be had!
And Carpe Yarnem: Seize the Dye (colorways that cannot be recreated) awesomeness galore:
Cloverhill Yarn is inside the main barn. Here's the route you should take to see the yumminess.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I'll be teaching at the Shepherd's Harvest Festival in Minnesota this weekend. No booth, but you can stop by Darn Knit Anyway in Stillwater on your way out of the festival -- it's not far!
True Fact #1: When I was three years old, I knew all the words to the Dolly Parton Song 9 to 5.
Still do. Here, I'll sing it for you.
This is an average day for me. My hair isn't great in the video, but it does have some volume. And my jumpsuit isn't exactly pristine. But let's not forget that I dye stuff for a living.
And yes, Snow White works in the studio.
Because I was such a talented vocalist, as is evidenced by the above video, my mother made me sing 9 to 5 for everyone. What was it? Was it that I knew all the words? Was it that it was cute for me to sing about how I was just another rung on the boss man's ladder?
I especially loved to sing it while riding in the backseat of our M & M green Volkswagen Rabbit, which looked a lot like this:
I think I'm going to play a joke on the attendees. I'm going to sit in the audience and wait and wait and wait for the teacher to show up, and when she's about 20 minutes late, I'll sigh heavily and say resolutely, "I GUESS IF YOU WANT SOMETHING DONE RIGHT, YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF." I will then swoop in and save the day.
Good idea? Yes?
True Fact #3: I have seen zero percent of the following movies:
Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7
The Godfather
The Godfather II
The Godfather III
Anything in a theater from the years 2002-2009.
True Fact #4: I have a cat. Kia would like you to know that she still lives here, that her position as eldest pet of the family has not been usurped by a certain giant horsedog.
Women and cats will do whatever they like. Men and dogs should just get used to the idea.
True Fact #5: Tomorrow, I'll give you a couple of previews of our new, can't-be-recreated, spring rainbow mini skein sets found only at Cloverhill Yarn at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival.
True Fact #6: Still no leaves on the trees here in northern Minnesota.
Inspired by the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival -- the largest festival of its kind and the first fiber festival I ever attended. In springtime, the Maryland countryside is a yarn lover's dream. Pastoral hills roll gently, the bright green grasses nourished with sunshine and rain. Fluffy white lambs dot the landscape, their tiny pink noses making them adorably irresistible.
This colorway is several shades of vibrant green, ivory, and tiny spots of pink. No more than a stitch or two here and there.
Chivalrous, inspired by the regal colors of the Renaissance period.
Claret red, purple, amber, emerald, and jasper.
And Flowering Cherry. There's not a prettier time of year in the Mid-Atlantic than early spring. The flowering trees are dust the walkways with their sweetly scented petals.
Pale blue and daubs of green and brown round out this beauty of a colorway.
All three of these colorways are instock and ready to rock on a variety of yarn bases (and spinning fiber) exclusively at Pulling at Strings. (Click on each yarn type to see which colorways are available.)
Thank you for supporting our retailers! We love them!
