Sneaky sneaky!
My peeps snuck into the studio over the weekend.
I guess it probably wasn't very hard for them -- I wasn't there, and they have keys. So in reality, they probably barged in, turned on all the lights, cranked the music up, drank some coffee, and yelled at each other. I was none the wiser.
Until I arrived in the stillness of an early Monday morning and saw this:
The studio was decorated for my birthday, complete with banners and balloons and confetti:
And before you get too Judgy McJudgerson about by floors, let me remind you that they are almost 110 years old, and that I happen to like them.
My desk and computer were completely covered in banners and candy and notes:
When everyone arrived, I found that they had made one of my favorite desserts (tiramisu), bought gifts, and planned to have my husband arrive at the appointed time so we could all go out to lunch at my favorite Japanese restaurant.
The mail also brought gifts: a book from a friend in Norway (how did you know I love art books?), hand knit socks, cards, and my gift to myself: a pair of Signature Needle Arts circulars. I am itching to try them.
I think 59 will agree with me just fine.
