Carpe Yarnem previews, pt 1

Our next Carpe Yarnem Stocking will be on Monday, August 16th at 3:30 pm Central Time. Yay!

I have some pretty things for you to peek at!  I used names for the colorways that y'all suggested! Yay!

Pretty Peek #1 -- Fairy Fire

Soft tangerines, raspberries, lemon yellows, pale purples, and minty greens.

We have four skeins of Roslea Organic Merino and one skein of Lindon for sale. Roslea is a velvety worsted weight yarn -- love it -- and Lindon is a minimally processed fine merino -- love it too.

Pretty Peek #2 -- Stardust

One intriguing skein of Adorn Sock with deep violet, bright fuchsia, grey, black, and pops of yellow and electric blue.

Pretty Peek #3 -- Funfetti

Doesn't this look like the Confetti Cake Mix you see at the grocery store? Speckles of purple, teal, brown, and pink sit atop a base of cream and pale green. We have one skein of Beckon Stretch Merino.

Pretty Peek #4 -- How Green Was My Valley

The answer is pretty green. Grassy emerald, mossy yellow green, and hints of deep royal blue. We have three skeins of Galenas that will be sold as a set.

Pretty Peek #5 -- 'Twas Brillig

Geek alert! I used to have Lewis Carroll's poem The Jabberwocky hanging in my locker in high school. I had it memorized.

'Twas Brillig, and the slithy toves

Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:

All mimsy were the borogoves

And the mome raths outgrabe.

I only have one skein of 'Twas Brillig on Springvale, but he's a beaut. Woodsy browns, heathered barn reds, and bright greens.

Pretty Peek #6 -- Chim Chim Cheree

Geek alert (again)! I love Mary Poppins. I own the movie and the soundtrack and have read the books. I make everyone in the studio here listen to the Mary Poppins soundtrack all the time. I love Julie Andrews. I need to have a Julie Andrews colorway -- what colors would she like?

I only have one skein of Chim Chim Cheree on Riddermark Merino, which is a bulky weight fine merino. This would make a very excellent pair of mittens or a child's hat. Or, should you want to make something more substantial using this colorway, we can make you as many skeins of a coordinating semi solid as you need.

Apple green, brown, and vermilion.

Pretty Peek #7 -- Moolooite

My mother said she would buy yarn called Moolooite, so if no one else wants these, I may have to force my mother to keep her word. Or I may keep them for myself. Because I love them.

Moolooite is a mineral that was discovered in Australia -- it's considered to be very rare.

I have two skeins of these on Adorn Sock -- look at that deep amethyst, that bright ruby, those mineral-y greens and blues. Sigh.

More previews to follow tomorrow!

Even if I can't score a skein the thrill of seeing a name that I suggested get chosen is very exciting! :) I think that Julie Andrews would like something that is soft and sophisticated with a bit of pop thrown in to keep it exciting ;)

Wow, the red in Moolooite really glows like a fine (meaning completely unaffordable ruby). My son was looking over my shoulder and commented as well.

No bad options, as ususal:)

Wow! These are amazing! I would love to have any of them, but alas, it is not to be. I have to be at work during the stocking. Sigh.

These are wonderful (as usual)!

You did NOT say that you memorized Jabberwocky... ?!? :) I did a "artistic reading" of Jabberwocky for high school and likewise memorized it. In fact, I think when I auditioned for Alice at Disneyland Califonia, they were impressed with my knowledge of Lewis Carrol info, even if the Disney version had nothing to do with that "manxsome foe". Seriously, we are geeks. Callooh Callay!
