Let's settle this once and for all.
I know y'all like to comment on my appearance. Here are actual comments I have received via my blog, Twitter, in person, or via email.
"I loved the class, but did not like the way you wore your hair. It's so matronly when it's up."
"It was great to meet you. Maybe next time you can wear your hair up so I can see more of your neck."
"Haven't I seen this dress before?"
"You look like a movie star on Demerol."
"Your lipstick was too dark. I found it very distracting."
"The dress you were wearing was pretty, but how come you never wear pants?"
"You are really just a small giant."
I could go on. I'm just choosing to believe that most of the people who comment positively or negatively about my hair/makeup/clothing are trying to be helpful, and that they care. Why else would they take the time to tell me what my hair needed brushing, my skirt needed ironing, or I needed to freshen my pedicure? I can either get offended, or I can choose to see it as motherly (fatherly?), and I'm going with option B, the glass half full option.
So, in that spirit, here's your chance to tell me your thoughts (nicely).
Which do you like better?
Red?
Or blonde?

Why should it matter to others what color your hair is? What looks and feels good to YOU is what matters.
I guess I am flabbergasted that anyone in a class would comment on your appearance unless it was truly unkempt and distracting.
They need to love you the way you are.

I'm with the first commenter. I cannot believe how RUDE some people can be. You're beautiful and talented and smart and funny. Grrrrr. Mean people stink.
You should go with whatever makes YOU feel good. Heck, if you want purple with green streaks and it makes you happy, go for it! Who cares what other people think?
You are so ridiculously gorgeous Sharon. Perhaps you should create a new yarn based on your ever-changing hair color.
Now, see, here I am all appalled that people feel it's appropriate to comment on your appearance! And some of those comments are just flat-out rude. (Movie star on Demerol?) You seem like a beautiful person in every way that matters and even the one that matters least.
I am all about switching colors! I am constantly changing from dark to light to strands of orange (my boy dared me LOL). You are a beautiful woman and between the red that makes your eyes POP or the blonde that gives you a soft glow, you have nothing to worry about!! (Can you tell my vote LOL)
And btw, you are so gracious to take those comments and toss them over your shoulder like salt! I would need a lesson in that!!
Personally, I cannot believe would even make those comments. How one chooses to look is a personal thing - unless you ask someone's opinion they should keep it to themselves. Those are the kind of people that are just negative about anything and feel they are above everyone else. the heck with them - I think you always look just like yourself - kind-spirited, happy and . . . Irish! love ya dmareiknits
I think blonde compliments your skin tones better than the red. But either way, you are beautiful!
I love the red, the way it lights up your eyes! Love.
You are beautiful inside and out Sharon!!! Your hair color should reflect what you want to see in yourself!! You have an amazing sense of color and it shows in your hair colors and your yarn colors. Do what pleases you as far as color. I like it either way. As someone else said, the red makes your eyes pop and the blond makes your skin glow. cvanmid
I can't possibly vote. I have always been of the opinion that personal style is, well, just that. Personal. If it makes you feel good or beautiful - then you are beautiful.
Oh my god. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for my fellow human beings. PS You look gorgeous with red AND blonde hair.
I think you look great with either color. The red is more dramatic, the blond softer. I am a redhead whose hair lost it's red after my first child. I have been using Henna on it for quite some time. But once you henna you shouldln't chemically dye it until it grows out. :0)
It always amazes me what people will say when they think they are anonymous.
Love the red, it makes you look more sassy, but the blonde is more motherly and considering the impending news.... :) Love them both :)
I only voted for red because 1. I really do think that you look fantastic with red hair and it is a little known fact that red is one of the hardest colors to look natural in and you do! and 2. Bleach is super hard on your hair and the damage caused by constantly stripping your color can cause permanent damage to your hair follicles and you have very pretty hair that I hate to think of being damaged. You do look beautiful either way and honestly I am guessing you always look beautiful cause you are a mother and motherhood is beautiful.
Really...really?
You are a naturally beautiful woman. I love you as a blonde as that is how I knew you first, if you could figure out how to have the shamrocks float around your pretty face like they do in the older photo on Rav, that would be a bonus. That said, whatever color your hair may be, you rock!
Thank you all for being so kind. I am used to the comments by this point. I really do think many of them are well-meaning, even though they may not come across that way.
When I first started teaching high school, I remember getting very personally upset if I could tell a student didn't like me. After a while, I just took the attitude of, I don't really need 15-year-old friends. You're here to learn.
I can just laugh about the comments about my hair now, and I'm sure this post will bring a flurry of new emails about what I look good in and what I should burn. ;) I just buy what I like what I think flatters my body type.
I cannot make everyone happy, so I've given up trying. ;)
RED RED RED RED RED!!!!!!!!!!!!! So Gorgeous!
Also, I love that red so much that I want my hair that color. I am not entirely sure I could pull it off half as good as you do though...... May need to go buy a box of dye.......
