TIME’S UP! And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

The Great Internet Outage of 2008 is officially over. Thanks to those of you who sent concerned letters via wagon train, owls bearing news of the outside world, and nourishing soups to bolster our strength.

We have much to share -- Albert is all grown up, and has taken himself a lovely bride. Laura is headed west to homestead on the prairie, and Mrs. Oleson and I have been busily preparing for the coming winter by darning socks and canning the last of the summer berries. Hopefully, Pa will enjoy his jam as the snow flies in January.

prepare for segue

It's time for a contest, don't you think?

I do think.

As a prize, how about a skein of our awesome new sock yarn, Beckon? I can't wait to share its awesomeness with you. Never a prettier sock yarn has been found. Never a stretchier, funner-to-knit-with yarn has been seen. Never has a grammar teacher been so horrified.

You pick your poison: a semi solid? Describe the color, and we can make it for you. Or maybe one of our yummy handpainted colorways? To sweeten the deal, we'll also add a free copy of one of our sock patterns.

To enter, respond to this post and answer the following question: What's on your needles right now? Or perhaps, what do you wish were on your needles right now? This will allow those of you who tidily finish one project before beginning another to enter.

Or allow those of you who are currently stuck in the horrid, "When the BLEEP is this project going to be finished?!?!" stage to fantasize about greener pastures. (Which I've heard are out west on the prairie.)

You have until Thursday evening, October 9th, to respond, and then we'll randomly select a winner. I will share one of my projects tomorrow!

Inside my purse is my travel project - a mitered baby blanket.

Beside my sofa is the current nightly knitting project - an Alpaca shawl following a Fiddlesticks Knitting pattern.

Let's not visit the swatch or the UFO piles! lol

Let's see...
1. Purl-less Monkey socks in Beckon Merino... yummm
2. Spiral Rib socks
3. Simple shawl in a buffalo.merino blend
4. A feather and fan baby sweater, although it's on the verge of abandonment
Hey... wait a second... none of these things are for me! I need to go cast on some socks for myself... **runs off to start another project**

I will only list them hear as several are Christmas presents and they can check Ravelry. So my confession for today is:
1. Eurydice Sock, for me
2. Plain Vanilla German Flag Sock for hubby
3. Vest for auntie
4. Hemlock Ring Blanket, for mum
5. Hemlock Ring Blanket, for grandmum
6. Habitat Cabled Hat, for dad

Though the next couple of days should have #3, 6, and hopefully #2 done. So I will start fingerless gloves, felted slippers, and a scarf.

Now back to work.....

I'm trying to finish a Quickie Cowl. It's not so quick because I'm not at all paying attention and I've been sick. I've also got a pair of Spring Forward socks started.

On my needles right now... a Meathead hat for my mother who wants to look like a crazy gnome. Go mom.

Right now, I have a pair of longies in the Liam colorway with olive trim on the needles. I'm also waiting for an order of Dream in Color Classy (in their gorgeous green) to make myself a February Lady Sweater. I'm also on a yarn hunt for the perfect thing for Mr. Greenjeans.

"Never has a grammar teacher been so horrified."

I love this statement.

My needles are occupied and there are some where just the cables are occupied. The Ravelympics helped me get more done than I usu. would. Still, I have unfinished objects and I always will. It's good to accept oneself as they are (grammar police need to stop by).

** Snuggly Bunny wee blankie (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/powerhouse/bunny-blanket-buddy---knit) for my son, poor dear, in Dashing Dachs Bartholomew, in Duck Bite color still not finished. My son will be 10 when I finish that. He's 3.5 now.

** hat tester pattern, being worked in Dashing Dachs' Stallion Organic Merino, in Framboise color. Just started that one.

** Klanning baby dress (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/powerhouse/klanning) for niece just adopted last Christmas Day from Armenia in Debbie Bliss' Cotton DK (nice yarn) in purple because I told my sister lets use something other than pink and purple (lavender) is her favorite color heh. This one is almost done- armhole edging, tucking in ends (not easy with this yarn on a smooth design), and blocking. It's an adorable pattern from Jakobsdales that I've been wanting to make for literally decades.

Lady Marisol Slipper for sale (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/powerhouse/marisol-knitted-summer-top) in Three Irish Girls Carys BFL in Lady Slipper. The pictures I take of this in this yarn will never do it justice but the recipient will be happy, if I ever get those shoulder straps done and blocked so I can sell it. :-))

One day I'll finish all my unfinished projects. If not, who would like to inherit them? :-)))

I'm currently knitting my Mom some birthday socks. The Merino Lace pattern from Interweave's "Favorite Sock" book. (The picture in the book does not do the pattern justice).

I'm dreaming about starting my Grandma's Clapotis, that I'm making her for Christmas.

On my needles right now is a wee little pink bonnet for a friend's unborn baby girl. I'm doing it in cotton, in a rose colour and it's soooooooo soft! It's making me VERY clucky!!

I'd rather not discuss the many hibernating projects I have stashed away, but the one I'm actively working on is a pretty lace scarf in a leaf motif (Elm Row), knitted with -- sock yarn!!

On my needles? I'm working on a sock for my friend Wendy - I got one finished for her birthday =)

I wish I had the Ring of Lace Shawl on my needles! I've got the yarn, just need the time!

The most active project on my needles is a sock.It is a pumpkin spice color and I am praying I finish it before Christmas.Being that they are for my sisters b-day in Nov. And a bag for my daughter to be felted. Those are the only two I am admitting are on the needles. The rest are hibernating.

October 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAlicia P

Wow. I feel like I have a lot on my needles and nothing getting done but I really don't have that much going on. So, on the needles are:
1. February Lady Sweater in Poem;
2. Tessalating fish blankie in a variety of worsted weight alpaca yarns; and
3. Kauni Sweater in Kauni of course.
What do I wish I was knitting? Well, it varies depending on what day you ask me!

My needles have "urban mitts" for my sone, a lady eleanor for my MIL, and a shawl for me. I look longingly at the "Barcelona" 3IG Enya - it is going to make a lovely bunny or elephant for my niece.... But the wedding I need the shawl for is a mere week and a half away... no more casting on until the shawl is blocked!
Peace!

October 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMarka

On my needles right now is a pair of fingerless mitts I'm knitting in exchange for a handmade pottery bowl for my yarn. What I see every time I look up is my beautiful 3IG's Adorn Sock in Baltic Sea shouting at me to hurry up!

October 8, 2008 | Unregistered Commentermichi

On my needles/hook I have:
Ripple crochet socks
a sock patterns I'm making up with my latest TIG yarn
Cruz by Debbie Bliss in sublime organic
Diagonal Shawl in Bee Sweet baby boucle'
Uh, and a few sweaters, socks and "other" that are in limbo.
I need to knit a baby gift and finish my daughter's sweater.

October 8, 2008 | Unregistered Commenteryarnardent

My needles hold an almost finshed pair of clogs. After felting, they will go in the Christmas pile, a gift for my son.
And then I do not want to see that pattern again for at least 2 years. His pair is the third in a row, I grow to despise it after awhile. And everyone who sees them wants a pair. ;)

October 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLinda Doggett

I have 2 WIP's right now. They are the Henley Neck Down Pullover for Men #255 aka the never ending hubby sweater and Classic Socks #29 for my oldest SIL. What I wish I had OTN? Swallowtail Shawl or another pair of socks!!

October 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAnn

How long do I have? I have last months' Stash Menagerie OTN for a cable neckwarmer, 5 socks, a swaeter, and aftagn and a dinosaur

October 8, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJill

I'm working on a pumpkin hat and matching sweater for my baby boy at the moment. I want to get it finished quickly so we can take pictures of him in it on our fall colors trip.
